New pricing and LTD users

Hey Ash, @ashrafsam

What was the plan here after the launch of Agents 2.0 for the LTD community.
Lets assume I wanted to actually use the new features.

  • Unlimited MCP servers
  • Unlimited tables
  • Unlimited Agents

If i am already on a LTD Plan, how would I be able to get these features.

1.Would I need to upgrade to Plus?
2. What would happen to my LTD PLAN & unlimited flows. (Tasks are free, anyway). Do I keep the unlimited flows or loose them on upgrade?
3. Customers bought different tiers. What are the benefits for someone who bought a Tier 6 vs Tier 3 now that tasks are free. Let also assume they want unlimited MCP servers, tables, agents.

Or, do you see LTD as just a project workspace that cant be upgraded. We would just be adding a new Plus project that we pay $25 per month for.

A bit of clarity on the plans/expectations would be great. I don’t see/understand the upgrade path. Assume i want all the features of plus for now.

There’s no issue as there’s no more Cloud Pro plan. The only remaining Cloud plans are Plus and Business. So our LTD / Cloud Pro account has to be mapped to one of the new plan - we don’t ask for Business

Yeah, 5 agents and 1 table are a bit low consideration.

I agree. It’s as simple as that. Your other option is to close your business and ActivePieces and start with a new business name and website. We purchased a paid Pro Plan LTD. We simply need to be placed on one of the paid plans. You chose to create three plans: FREE, PLUS, (BIG GAP HERE), and BUSINESS. The terms state we should be mapped to one of these exactly. The first plan is fine for lower tiers, and higher tiers should be mapped to the higher plan. It’s unfortunate you didn’t think of this before announcing your new plans to the world.

Keep up the good work with ActivePieces—we’ve supported you since the beginning, and we will continue or… close the business!

Based on what I’m seeing from the management team here, they hear us, they don’t care based on being told “You all are getting much more than what you bought :eyes:

That response is extremely inconsiderate and seems unwilling to being understanding of where the users/community is coming from. That makes it seem as if what they announced is what we get, and it’s “too bad”.

Not a great look. Hopefully something can be done.

Ash,

This is what you posted on the Appsumo Activepieces page on sumo day last year.

Back for Sumo Day! * Posted Jun 9, 2024
Dear Sumo-lings!

:three: All tiers map to the “Pro” plan on our website :male_detective: we’ve been consistent about this plan (never changed its name, and it only became better and more powerful).

We get a lot of questions from Sumolings whether they can get the Enterprise features as an LTD, we don’t do that and we’re clear about it so we avoid confusion :softball:.

How would you interpret point 3 above. Would be great to get clarity before the long weekend.

Hey everyone, we decided to sort this out officially with the AppSumo team next week, we’ll post updates when we have them.

So, it looks like you are taking the “take it or get your money back” approach since AppSumo needs to be involved?

Hope this is not the case and sadly if so it is totally missing the point about what the LTD users and the community is saying and are concerned about.

All we ask is a fair limit on resources compared to the plan we bought into (Ex. 10-20 Agents, MCP and Tables) and a affordable way (One time pay or low monthly) to get everything that is in the Plus plan.

To me, it sounds like a good faith effort to find a fair solution by discussing it with all involved parties. I think it’s a good idea.

What I see is that Activepieces doesn’t consider people who once purchased a license as their real clients. They have come back to the platform several times to close some of their tasks, and EVERY TIME they made that same offer. You might make a mistake once, but not repeatedly.

And now Ashrafsam himself says he’s not violating any agreements with AppSumo. He doesn’t see that by selling the product, the company made a deal directly with you as customers.

I won’t even mention the people who paid for the highest plan or regularly sent bug reports to support so they could provide better services for their Pro-tier clients and above.

I personally use only about 2000 points per month, and don’t use spreadsheets or other advanced features at all, but this whole situation has left a very unpleasant impression. And it’s getting worse.

Right now they plan to deal with AppSumo, not with their own customers — the very people who helped the company grow.

As promised, the announcement turned out to be spectacular…

Hey @ashrafsam ,

Thanks again for staying engaged here. I really do appreciate the work you and the team have put into building Activepieces into what it is today.

That said, I want to be clear about where a lot of us are coming from. I’ve backed and used other automation platforms like Albato, Pabbly and N8N. I chose to support Activepieces early because I believed in the vision and the direction. The issue right now isn’t about wanting unlimited access or trying to squeeze more than what we paid for. It’s about holding to the original terms that were promised at the time of purchase.

When you say “You all are getting much more than what you bought,” I get the sentiment. The platform has grown a lot and that’s great to see. But respectfully, that’s not really the point. What was promised was “All future Activepieces Cloud Pro Plan updates” and that “If the plan name changes, the deal will be mapped to the new plan name with all accompanying updates.” That language was specific and a major reason many of us committed early.

The current Plus plan appears to be the direct successor to the Pro plan. It includes unlimited MCP servers, tables and AI agents. LTD users, however, are now limited to just 1 server, 1 table and 5 agents. These aren’t bonus features. They’re now core to how the platform operates. Restricting them for LTD users makes it feel like we’re being pushed into paid plans instead of seeing the original promise carried forward.

We’re not asking for a blank check. Most of us are fine with reasonable caps on things like AI credits where there are real costs involved. But the restrictions on base platform functionality feel like a shift in the deal we signed up for. It risks creating a wedge between the early adopters who helped get Activepieces off the ground and the newer user base you’re now targeting.

Look at how companies like Apple or Google treated their early communities. They empowered them. They recognized that early adopters are not just customers. They’re advocates, testers and champions of the product. You don’t need to give away everything forever, but walking back a clear promise sends the wrong message.

I want to see Activepieces succeed. I like where it’s headed. But I also want to feel like the trust we placed in the platform from the start still means something. You may not see this but this is a pivotal moment in your companies success or failure. To leave the people who embraced your company vs going after the “speculators” is a lack of foresight.

“In the business world, the rearview mirror is always clearer than the windshield.” -Warren Buffet

Sincerely a concerned LTD Tier 4 user. Help me, help ActivePieces.

Very well written and on the point. It is also worth mentioning that this thread about LTD and pricing has more views and likes etc. than the announcement itself. Help us make ActivePieces better and the best choice for automation.

I echo the sentiment regarding the apparent disparity between the promised ‘All future Activepieces Cloud Pro Plan updates’ and the current feature set for LTD users. The core concern isn’t just about the nomenclature shift from ‘Pro’ to ‘Plus,’ but rather the significant divergence in resource allocation (AI credits, tables, agents, MCP servers) that seems to place LTD holders at a distinct disadvantage compared to new subscribers to what appears to be the equivalent tier. Could Activepieces clarify how this aligns with the original commitment to ensure our long-term value remains intact as the platform progresses?

Just sharing Martini’s useful message from the AP Discord general channel.

Anything we’d want to be seen and part of the discussion between the AP and AS team, we should post here.

I’m actually pretty shocked by all of this. I’ve always supported this team, thinking they had good intentions - but really just pulled the rug on all the early supporters/adopters.

This could also very well be a “Door-in-the-face” technique.
Absolutely destroy the LTD base with this serious downgrade, then offer something slightly better (but still a downgrade) to ‘appease’ and sweep under the rug.

They also moderate their youtube comments, so none of this is shown there.
Most infuriating is they go on about how LTD users ‘want more and more free stuff’. No we don’t, we want what was promised to us - that our plans would be mapped to a relevant ‘Pro Plan’, which you have not done. THATS why there is kickback.

People picked up the LTD as an investment as to what might be. Your product was near unusable early stages - so no, we did not buy it for what it was back then, but what the potential could be.

Also, you go on and on about how you didn’t need the money. If this is the case, I suggest you refund the appsumo campaign which you breached. Which you won’t, because you DID need/use the money.

I am an LTD user as well with 500,000 tasks.
I am also a business owner and I have my own LTD deal, so I can see both sides.

I don’t think you should provide unlimited tasks to LTD (I don’t think you should do that for paying customers as well – there should be a high limit instead).

As LTD users, we kept using your product, which was not good enough in the start, and helped improve it to be much better (and there is still a lot to improve).

The pain we suffered with all the bugs and problems was for the future of the company and the new options the product would have to offer.

Now, I don’t think people here need to be pigs; there is no need for unlimited everything, but you do need to offer much much higher limits that would be fair compared to the number of tasks we have.

Allowing 1 MCP and 1-5 Agents is way too low compared to 500,000 tasks, and it needs to be more fair.

You need to respect the users who kept using your system and helped it grow improve. Most of us would not do that if it weren’t for LTD and the idea of the future of the company, and deciding to honor the LTD pact is not cool.

I don’t need unlimited everything, but make much higher limits so it would be fair and allow LTD users to keep using the product with needing to pay montly fees (which is what we all sign for).

As someone who bought the top-tier LTD when Activepieces was just starting out, I want to start by congratulating the team on the recent launch and feature updates. We’ve been supporters from day one—promoting Activepieces in our events, talking about it to our audience—not because we were using it, but because we believed in its future.

In fact, we never used the platform at all—not even lightly. We were simply waiting for it to mature, and trusted that our early investment would be worth it when the time came.

Now that MCP and AI Agents are live, we finally came back, excited to start building. But what we found was shocking: despite holding a plan that was advertised as equivalent to $999/month, we’re limited to free-tier levels on the very features we waited years for.

To put it bluntly, what we invested in this LTD deal is worth more than two full years of today’s new “Plus” plan—with unlimited MCPs, tables, and agents. That same investment, even today, could have bought us two years of full-feature access elsewhere—like n8n, which has been moving fast and delivering.

So we’re not asking for more than what’s fair:

Give LTD users access to the real Pro/Plus-level tools we expected—at the very least, high limits that align with our task volume (1M+).

You don’t need to cover AI credits—just let us bring our own providers like OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini.

And most importantly: move fast. The AI space is evolving quickly, and we want to scale with Activepieces, not talk about how we got left behind.

We didn’t just pay early—we believed early. We deserve more than the free-tier taste of the features we’ve waited all this time to use.

Something else important to consider: As can be seen from the comments here and elsewhere, many of us purchased high-tier subscriptions and have not used the software in any meaningful way since the purchase.

I have talked with other companies running LTDs, and it’s part of the business model. They know that 99 percent of their users will never utilize a fraction of the limits purchased, and the 1 percent that do are offset by the resources not used by everyone else.

To put it another way: there is no real problem in giving us access to limits that almost none of us will use to the fullest. However, the reality is that we did invest in having access to those limits as the product matured, and making excuses now, as if we have used those resources, isn’t honest.

You cost us money, not the other way around. The vast majority of us combined have cost you nothing because we haven’t been using your service. And if we were, our usage was below what was allowed on your free plan to begin with. We have helped you get to where you are now.

It’s also unbelievable to go into comments and reviews and state you had YC backing and didn’t need any funding from LTD…when you ran multiple campaigns on AppSumo. Why would you do that unless you needed money?.

100%. Absolutely.

We’re not asking for unlimited everything—just fair limits that align with our plans and make the platform genuinely useful. Otherwise, what was the point of choosing, investing in, and believing in the project from the beginning?

Dear Activepieces Team,

I am writing to express serious concerns about the recent changes to your pricing structure that have significantly impacted our evaluation and planned implementation of your platform.

Key Issues

Lack of Communication: We received no advance notice about these substantial pricing changes. More concerning, we were automatically moved from our paid plan to a trial plan without any notification or explanation. This is unacceptable customer service and reflects poorly on your business practices.

Misleading Marketing: Your current Plus plan ($25/month) advertises “unlimited tasks” but restricts users to only 10 active flows. This is fundamentally misleading, as workflows are the core functionality that drives task execution. Unlimited tasks become meaningless when severely restricted by workflow limitations.

Dramatic Service Reduction: The previous Starter plan offered unlimited flows at no cost, while the new structure requires $25/month for just 10 flows. This represents a significant reduction in value proposition and fundamentally changes the platform’s accessibility for small businesses and growing teams.

Impact on Business Planning: As paying customers, we were building our automation strategy around your platform based on our existing service level. Being suddenly downgraded to a trial plan with these unannounced changes has disrupted our operations and forced us to reconsider our platform selection.

Business Impact

Service Downgrade: We were moved from a paid plan to a trial plan without consent or notification, effectively receiving a downgrade in service while having been paying customers.

The new 10-flow limitation in the Plus plan is insufficient for our operational needs. For a platform positioning itself as an enterprise automation solution, this restriction severely limits practical business implementation and scalability.

Request for Resolution

  1. Immediate Account Restoration: Restore our account to the paid plan level we were previously on, as we did not consent to any service downgrade
  2. Advance Notice Policy: Please implement proper communication protocols for future pricing changes, giving existing users reasonable notice period
  3. Grandfather Existing Customers: Consider honoring the original pricing structure for paying customers who were using the platform under previous terms
  4. Transparent Pricing: Revise marketing materials to clearly reflect the limitations rather than emphasizing “unlimited” features that are actually constrained

We had high hopes for Activepieces as our automation platform and were paying customers committed to your success. However, these changes and the manner in which they were implemented have created significant concerns about the company’s approach to customer relationships, pricing stability, and basic business ethics.

I look forward to your response and hope we can find a path forward that better serves both existing and prospective customers.
