I am using approval links in a workflow and it is automatically approving the wait step. When I test this flow it works amazingly, but upon publishing it auto accepts. I can provide the workflow ID if needed, please see images below:
Hi there @nadda, could you please let us know how you determined that the wait for approval step got automatically passed through ? I tried to replicate your flow using the wait for mention trigger and adding the approval steps, and wasn’t able to reproduce the issue.
Sure, so once I published the flow and executed it in Slack, I watched it complete the “Wait for Approval” and move forward with “Wait for Approval” = true, even through I had not yet clicked either the approved or denied links generated and sent via Slack.
My understanding of the “wait” step, would be to not move forward until either the approve or deny links have been clicked and that information is relayed back to the flow.
It is worthy to note, that when testing the flow during the building stage that this worked perfectly, the issue only arose once it was published and actively in use.
Hope this helps!
Hello @nadda, Sorry for the late reply!
I tested it and found the issue: when you include both the approval and deny links in a Slack message, it accidentally activates the webhook for any of them (which is not the intended behavior).
I’m working on a fix and will add it in the next release.
Alternative Solution Until We push a fix:
You can replace the Create Approval Links and Waiting for Approval with one piece from Slack called Request Approval from A User
Thank you for reporting this—your feedback is invaluable!
@hazemadelkhalel Thank you so much for taking a look into this!
This is something I have been using for a Proof of Concept for the team. We can absolutely wait until this is rolled out. (Many items can be given attention, as I am sure the same can be said for your team!!)
Once this is rolled out I will revisit this flow and do more testing. Looking forward to expanding out with approvals for internal/external use with our team and clients!
The teams hard work is very much noticed and appreciated!!
