I have not had any problems with Chrome on Mac. Neither M1 or i7. Use an iMac 27 i7, and a MBP m1. Using Chrome as I write this.
I suggest you check if you have many plugins installed in Chrome, and turn off plugins to see if one of them is the culprit.

i switched to a guest account and had no problems…
never had this issue before, and I don’t use adblock on google chrome
Check for ad guards, or if you had something disable js on your browser.
