I have a great news for importing/exporting flows:
We now support importing either a zip file containing multiple flows as .json files or a single .json file.
A single flow will be saved as a .json file for exports while selecting multiple flows will generate a zip file.
Give it a try and share your feedback with us! 
could we technically import these into a specific folder? or more precisely, a new folder created for them? this could be the seed to importing solutions rather than just a single flow
I tried using import under flow and also made sure the json template is correct still cannot import getting error message for format error. Provide exact resolution steps please.
