Email Conset for Shopify

Having a big issue here.

We wanted to send our email signup leads from ActivePieces (webhook) to Shopify, and the only option is to use the Create Customer Profile.

The issue here is that, there is no option to provide Email Consent in ActivePieces, so the whole automation becomes useless.

Anyone know a solution for this?

Hello @aleeri , Welcome to the community ,

Can you explain what feature you are looking for? Is it additional fields in the existing ‘Create Customer’ action?

Thank you.

Yes exactly, because right now it is not possible to push a new lead or customer into Shopify via Active Pieces integration.

You do have an integration, and one can push the data, but the customer profile created has all consent set to false, and there is no additional fields to update those, and when consent is false then its not possible to either email or do much of anything with the customer profile created. So for any ecom brand this makes it all pretty unusable in any kind of Active Pieces automation. I can’t come up with any use case for it in its current state.

I spoke to Shopify support and this cannot be fixed using automation inside Shopify (Shopify Flow), and I also spoke to Klaviyo and other apps and any customer profiles further synced from Shopify with consent set to false will remain false in all the synced applications, creating further issues.

Here is what Shopify support told me:

“For API-created profiles, you would need to ensure that the app’s API requests include the necessary parameters to set the accepts_marketing field to true. This requires modifying the app’s code to include this field when creating or updating customer profiles.”

I would highly appreciate if this could be added. I also think it would be in your best interest to add it to Active Pieces so one can push leads into Shopify and actually use those leads. I can see that being a common use case in general for an app like Active Pieces.

Not to mention that this feature is in Zapier, and we tried to switch from Zapier to Active Pieces but unable to do so because of this.

@kishanprmr any update on the above?

I’ve opened this ticket for it. The team will update the piece soon.

Hero, you just saved us a boatload of headache. Really looking forward to it, thank you!

Any update on a timeline for this?

@kishanprmr ? Would be great to hear that this doesn’t disappear.

This will be fixed by next week. Thanks for your patience!

Following up on this, thank you

I saw the cycle was updated but still not completed in that cycle?

Any update? I see we passed the scheduled date again? @kishanprmr

I assume this is not even going to be fixed then? Seems like things ending up on the github is going nowhere fast @kishanprmr

Will this ever be finished? I can see you stopped updating [Shopify]: add email_marketing_consent param in create customer action · Issue #7455 · activepieces/activepieces · GitHub in May this year.

Bumping this (again)

Added for this week’s sprint.

@kishanprmr Is there some issue? 3 weeks later it seems like this was never worked on in the sprint.

Since we are now at almost 5 months since I flagged this issue and a ticket was opened about it, it would be great to hear about the progress on this?

We are having regrets investing in Activepieces tbh, that such a major integration as Shopify can fail on such a simple thing as missing consent status.

When Shopify icon is shown on integrations supported one expects this. For any ecommerce company consent is one of the most important things as majority of sales are made via direct response marketing nowadays.

This has now been added. Please recreate the step and test again. Apologies for the delay.
